DEMISE.
Mrs Eliza Ralph, who had reached to within seven and a half years of
being 100 years old, and who for some time past had been regarded as the
oldest individual in the district, died at the residence of her son, East
Moonta, last Saturday afternoon.  Mrs Ralph came to Moonta about 40 years
ago, and had remained here for the greater portion of that period.  She was
a widow when she left her home in Cornwall and came out to Australia, with
her daughter and two sons, and during late years, on account of her great
age, she had been affectionately referred to as Granny Ralph.  Two sons
(Edward, of Maitland, and James, of East Moonta) and daughter (Mrs Thomas
Thomas, Adelaide) survive her.  The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon,
when a very large procession of vehicles (over 40) followed the remains to
the cemetery.  Mr J. Verran, M.P. at deceased's request, conducted the
funeral service, assisted by the East Moonta South Methodist Choir.
