Narrative

This family is, of course, impossible.

If Mary Jasper were born around 1790, then she would have been around 46 when the youngest child William was born. If later censuses are to be believed, she was over 55 when the youngest child was born.

If the 1851 census is to be believed, James died before 1851 and was a sailor (fisherman or sailor R.N.). However the 1841 census calls him a labourer and the baptisms of children after 1820 show him as an ag labourer. There is also a burial record for a James LIGHTFOOT aged 75 in 1858 which matches his birth around 1783/4 (baptised in April 1784.)

All this suggests two families of James & Mary, but they only appear once in the census and there is only one marriage record....
